Do I need to have faith to benefit from your services?
While we offer a faith-based approach, you don’t need to identify as religious to work with us. Our therapy focuses on providing compassionate, trauma-informed care that meets you where you are, regardless of your faith background.
Is EMDR effective for everyone?
EMDR is an effective therapy for many people, especially those struggling with PTSD, trauma, and emotional distress. However, it’s not suitable for everyone or every type of issue. Your therapist will work with you to determine if EMDR is the right approach for your specific needs.
Is EMDR painful?
EMDR is not designed to make you relive traumatic experiences in painful ways. While you may experience some emotional discomfort as you address painful memories, the process is meant to be manageable and to help you heal over time. Your therapist will be there to support you throughout the process.
How many sessions of EMDR will I need?
The number of EMDR sessions needed depends on the complexity of your trauma and your individual needs. Some people may experience relief after just a few sessions, while others may need more. Your therapist will work with you to create a personalized plan and adjust it as needed throughout the process.
What can I expect during an EMDR session?
An EMDR session typically involves discussing your history and the specific memories you want to address. Your therapist will then guide you through the bilateral stimulation process, which may include eye movements, tapping, or auditory cues. As you focus on the traumatic memory, your brain will begin to reprocess it in a way that helps reduce the emotional intensity. The session will end with a review of the progress made and a relaxation technique to help you feel grounded.
